NZBolt ("the App") is developed by Christian Bürger, Oppenhoffallee 92, 52066 Aachen, Germany ("the Developer"). This privacy policy explains how the App handles your data. For information about data processing on the website, see the Website Privacy Policy.

The Short Version

NZBolt is a local-only app. It does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data on external servers. Everything stays on your Mac.

Data That Stays on Your Device

NZBolt processes and stores the following data exclusively on your Mac:

  • Usenet server credentials — stored in your macOS Keychain, encrypted by the operating system. NZBolt never reads, copies, or transmits these credentials outside of establishing connections to your configured Usenet servers.
  • NZB files — imported locally and processed on your machine.
  • Download queue and history — stored in a local SwiftData database on your Mac.
  • App preferences — such as your destination folder, speed limits, and server priorities, stored locally.

Data NZBolt Does NOT Collect

  • No analytics or usage tracking
  • No crash reports sent to the developer
  • No personal information (name, email, location)
  • No device identifiers or fingerprinting
  • No cookies or tracking pixels (the App has no web component)
  • No advertising or third-party SDKs

Network Connections

NZBolt connects exclusively to the Usenet (NNTP) servers you configure. These connections are used solely to download content specified by your NZB files. NZBolt supports SSL/TLS encryption for these connections. No data is sent to the developer or any third party.

No Accounts

NZBolt does not require you to create an account. There is no registration, no sign-in, and no cloud sync.

Children's Privacy

NZBolt does not collect any data from anyone, including children under the age of 13 (or equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction under GDPR: 16 in Germany).

Your Rights Under GDPR

Since NZBolt does not collect or process personal data, there is no personal data to access, correct, delete, or port. If you have questions about this, you are welcome to contact the developer.

Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
