Need help with NZBolt? You'll find answers to common questions below. If your issue isn't covered, feel free to reach out directly.
Getting Started
What do I need to use NZBolt?
A Mac with macOS 15 Sequoia or later (Apple Silicon), and an active Usenet provider account with server credentials (address, port, username, password).
How do I set up my Usenet server?
Open NZBolt, go to Settings, and add your server. Enter the host, port, SSL setting, and your credentials. Click "Test Connection" to verify. Your credentials are stored securely in the macOS Keychain.
How do I start a download?
Drag and drop an NZB file onto the NZBolt window, open one from Finder, or set up a watched folder in preferences. NZBolt handles the rest automatically — download, verify, repair, extract, and organize.
Common Issues
My download is stuck or very slow.
Check your server connection in Settings using the test button. Make sure your internet connection is stable. Try adjusting the number of connections for your server — your provider may have a limit.
PAR2 repair failed.
This usually means too many parts are missing or damaged. If you have a backup server configured, NZBolt will attempt to fetch missing parts from it automatically. Otherwise, the source files may be incomplete.
Extraction failed.
If the archive is password-protected, make sure you've entered the correct password. NZBolt supports RAR, 7z, and ZIP formats. Corrupted archives may fail even after PAR2 repair if too many blocks are unrecoverable.
NZBolt won't launch after a macOS update.
Try deleting the app and re-downloading it from the App Store. Your settings, Keychain credentials, and local data will be preserved.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does NZBolt require an internet connection?
Only to download from your configured Usenet servers. There is no cloud dependency, no account system, and no phone-home.
Can I use multiple Usenet servers?
Yes. Add as many servers as you need. Assign priorities so NZBolt uses backup servers automatically when parts are missing from your primary.
Where are my downloaded files stored?
In the destination folder you configure in Settings. Temporary files are cleaned up automatically after extraction.
Does NZBolt collect any data?
No. See the Privacy Policy for details.
